On 1/09/2010 The Pittsville Volunteer Fire Dept., held its annual awards Banquet, with dinner catered by Whitey's Barbaque, and entertainment by DJ Dale Smack. The banquet was attended by many dignitaries from the county and state levels. During the ceremonies Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis extended his heart felt grattitude to the Pittsville Fire Dept. and the Parsonsburg Fire Dept. for the immediate assistance they provided from the begining to the end of the search for Sarah "Haleybugs" Foxwell as well as the community as a whole. Guest Speaker, Battalion Chief Matt Tobia from Anne Arundel County Fire Dept. delivered a very nice message to the members of our dept. during his presentation. Teddy Farlow received FireFighter of the year award in honor of his dedication to the dept. from past to present to include being a valuable assest to many of our fundraising committees. David Hearn and Kristina Ehrisman were awarded the Chief's award ,Shiloh Harris and Teddy Farlow were awarded the Presidents award. These awards were awarded for the continued dedication these members provide to the dept. through out the years. Other awards given during the ceremonies were: Top ten responders, EMS Acheivment , EMS appreciation, Cadet of the Year,and the Pink helmet.

MVC WITH RESCUE

 

 

ON 1/1/10 PITTSVILLE VFD WAS DISPATCHED TO OCEAN GATEWAY AND SIXTY FOOT ROAD FOR A MVC WITH INJURIES.  ASSISTANT CHIEF POWELL RESPONDED IN COMMAND 7 AND UPON ARRIVAL ADVISED CAPTAIN BRATTEN AND CREW OF RESCUE 7 THAT A DOOR POP WOULD BE NEEDED TO EXTRICATE ONE OF THE PATIENTS.  UPON RESCUE 7 ARRIVING ON SCENE THE CREW STABILIZED THE SUV AND USED THE JAWS OF LIFE TO MANIPULATE THE DRIVERS DOOR SO THE PATIENT COULD BE REMOVED.  THE CREW FROM ENGINE 707 MANNED A CHARGED LINE FOR PROTECTION FROM POSSIBLE FIRE.  BOTH A-7 AND B-7 TRASNPORTED THE TWO PRIORITY 2 PATIENTS FROM THE SUV TO PRMC.  ONE ADDITIONAL AMBULANCE FROM STATION 8 WILLARDS WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE TO TRANSPORT THE PATIENT FROM THE TRUCK AS A PRIORITY 3 TO PRMC.  TRAFFIC CONTROL 7 RESPONDED TO THE SCENE FOR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT.  MARYLAND STATE POLICE WERE ALSO ON SCENE.
