On 9/1/09 one of our active lifetime members, Emory Davis was involved in a serious MVC in Caroline County. It took members of the Caroline County Emergency Services approximately 1 hour to extricate Emory from his extensively damaged log truck. Upon arrival at Shock Trauma he was listed in critical condition with the following injuries: a fractured C-7, fractured sternum, broken shoulder, lacerations to the arm with tendon damage, and bruising to the brain. Emory has since had surgery to repair his tendon damage which was successful, the main concentration now is the bruising on the brain. Emory's wife Libby has been staying at the Radisson Hotel which is recommended by Shock Trauma due to the shuttle service, in order to be by his side through this long timely recovery. The cost of this hotel is $99.00 a night not including food. Emory is a self employed Truck driver and the only provider for his family, he has been a member of our dept. for 35 plus years and an active member of the Wicomico County Fire Police. His son Mike Davis is a career Captain with the Salisbury Fire Dept, the Pittsville Fire Dept is asking for assistance for their stay at the hotel and the accruing medical bills which are still accruing. The Pittsville Fire Dept. Will be placing donation boots at area businesses within the Pittsville Fire District and at our upcoming Bike Week and Carnival events and our Friday night Bingos. Emory's family and his extended fire dept family thank everyone for their contributions and support during this difficult time.
